Post 10: getting the gold

Last week I wrote about how the fall brings feelings of familiarity and the warmth that comes from that, but this week? Everything has felt a bit shaken up. Where do we go when we don’t know where to go? Many times, I leap to distractions to forget, even if it’s temporary forgetfulness. It doesn’t work for long though, because then the anxiousness creeps in slowly.

I’m in a phase where I don’t know what my next steps are. I’ve been in this place before, and without even realizing, the Lord guided me. I was stumbling, and quite honestly, falling flat on my face, but He grabbed my hand. I know that it’ll be done again, but to some extent, I’m still scared. How do you walk blindfolded without worrying?

You get blindfolded by God.

The Lord will always lead you. He will satisfy your needs in dry lands and give strength to your bones. you will be like a garden that has much water, like a spring that never runs dry.
— Isaiah 58:11

Everyone knows the age old question of a frustrated parent asking “if your friend told you to jump off a cliff too, would you?” Of course, the normal answer is no, but what happens when that friend is Jesus? This may be a major exaggeration and we aren’t actually being guided off a cliff, but in some aspects, it kinda feels like it. We have zero clue where we’re being led, but somehow, God’s blindfold brings peace. Trusting the one who never settles for bronze or silver only means we’re getting led to the gold. Our father is not a misleading or mistrusting. He knows where the gold is, it just might be too bright to see before we’re ready.

There’s plenty of times where we’re in a dry land waiting for it to rain, but it feels like we’re stuck in a drought. The rain will come, it always does. Questioning how long the drought will last is where the anxieties comes into play. Our father does not leave us without water, we might just have to sweat out everything that’s not meant for us.

I may have zero clues where I’m heading, but I’ll jump when you say go, Lord.
